LIP PRODUCT ADDICT TAG

lipstick tag

1. What is your favorite balm or treatment?

It would be the Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm. I am not the type who splurges on lipbalms and I call this a splurge because it is definitely more costly than most of the lipbalms I have ever own but it is worth every single cent I paid.
Super moisturizing, nice texture on the lips, does not feel oily or just sitting on the lips.

2. What is your favorite eye catching red?

Red is not my to go colour of late but there was once upon a time when I was totally crazy for red and bought every red shade of NYX round lipstick. Those are not my favourite red though.
My favourite eye catching red would be the Chanel Rouge Allure in Passion. Most luxurious red lipstick I have ever own and also went through many considerations and researches before I picked up this lipstick.
Such a beautiful blue red on my skintone. It just brightens my complexion and looks really gorgeous and luxurious on the lips

3. The best luxury and drugstore product?

I am a lip junkie, It is so hard to narrow this down.

Luxury : First one would be the YSL Rouge Volupte(s). The epitome of luxurious when it comes to lipsticks. The texture is wonderful, they glide on the lips on butter and are so creamy. My favourite colour is Fetish Pink.
Everybody is on the liquid lipstick bandwagon and I am one of those girls too. I find it really convenient. Too Faced Melted Lipsticks is my pick. Despite not coming to YSL in terms of luxury, it is still a luxurious product.
Honorable mentions :  NARS Audacious lipsticks Chanel Rouge Allure

Drugstore :  I have a ton of favourite drugstore lipsticks. This is such a hard pick for me.
Bourjois has been my favourite drugstore brand when it comes to almost every product and their lipsticks are no different. The Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet and Rouge Edition Aqua Lacque have been my favourite liquid lipsticks from the drugstore to date. They feel luxurious on the lips without the obnoxious price tag.
L'oreal also produces some of my favourite lip products. The L'oreal Collection Privee in Julianne's Nude is definitely my to go everyday lip colour and the L'oreal Colour Riche Extraordinaire Liquid Lipsticks are my love. I have about 8 of them in my collection. That's how crazy I am for L'oreal's Liquid Lipsticks.

Honorable Mentions : Topshop lipsticks, Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipsticks, Innisfree Creammellow Lipsticks

4. Best MAC lipstick?

I do not own many MAC lipsticks. Among the few that I own, my favourite is Speed Dial. Creamsheen formula are one of the best MAC formula since it is not too drying or loud. It gives the lips a nice wash of colour.

5. Most disappointing lip product?

Etude House Dear Darling Lip Tint is a gloopy mess of lip tint.

6. Lip Liner: Yes or No?

Yes. Especially for reds, a lipliner is definitely necessary to define the lips and stop the lipsticks from feathering or bleeding and all those mess.
I am not picky with lipliner as long they are creamy and longlasting. I do not mind that they are from the drugstore. So, most of my lipliners are from the drugstore. Actually, I just have one highend lipliner.
Essence releases great lipliners and it is the brand I pretty much go to for lipliners.

7. Favorite gloss?

For drugstore, the NYX Butter Glosses are my pick. They are really smooth and buttery. Not to mention , they are really affordable. Coming close are the NYX Megashine Lipglosses. NYX just get their glosses right.
Luxury brand wise, the Chanel Allure Gloss are fantastic. They are smooth, buttery and pigmented. not to mention that the packaging is so gorgeous and sleek.

8. ..Something else?!

I am into the lip lacquer or lip cream type of lip products since they are pigmented, long lasting and a breeze to apply. My top pick would be the Rimmel Apocalips(not the mattes!). They are so pigmented and they last the whole day, even after fading, they still leave a nice wash of colour on the lips. Since they are drugstore brand, they are affordable.

Yves Rocher New Year edition haul

Yves Rocher is a great French brand with affordable beauty brand that has many hidden gems. I have been using their products for the past year and I would say they are a bang for their prices.

Every Christmas season, Yves Rocher will release a limited edition range of bath and body items.
This year, I did pick up a lot of items from the Christmas limited.

Lots of handcreams.
I really love Yves Rocher's hand cream. I find them to work really well on me on this dry weather.
I got five tubes which seems kind of excessive but they are all not mine, The flavours I picked up is the Blueberry and Cocoa & Orange. The only flavour I did not pick up is the Raspberry because it smelt so artificial and just not pleasing at all.
My favourite scent has to be the Cocoa & Orange because I just everything Cocoa, Chocolate, Vanilla. Those scents and in between.

I haven't mention about Yves Rocher lipbalms at all but they are just so amazing. I picked up two from the last Christmas limited, it was the Raspberry and Cocoa . I love the texture of the lipbalm they are so nourishing, they give a very nice sensation on the lips, I could hardly able to describe it , you could actually feel the lipbalm working the lips upon application, moisturizing them and but you do not feel them on sit the lips at all, they don't leave a layer on the lips. You know how we dislike the feeling of lipbalm sitting on the lips, like there is a layer of oil or grease on the lips. This feels light on the lips.
Since I so love them, this time I picked up two again from the Christmas limited but in Blackberry. The Blackberry comes in a purplish-pink tint. Really beautiful, very winter shade. I haven't came across lipbalms that are in this colour. Usually they are either pink, red or peach. So I just have to get them and ofcourse two of them because I am a hoarder. Well, I go through lipbalms really fast.

The gem of this haul is a Eau de Toilette. With this, Yves Rocher has probably created the best scent that has come from them. I never like Yves Rocher Eau de Toilette, I don't find them to smell good at all. This, is the whole different story. You could see that I got two bottles, this proves how amazing it smells. The Pear Caramel scent is just so lovely. It is sweet and refreshing at the same time. The scent isn't too strong, it is very light.
It last quite long on the body which is pretty surprising. Usually these type of Eau de Toilette do fade away mid-day. I am just quite sad that this is a limited edition.

Tiny winter haul

I am back from my holidays, I am still on holiday mood and too lazy to do anything at all.
Meanwhile I sort all of my holiday pictures and slack around . Let's have a haul post to fill up the emptiness that has been here for 2 weeks.
In this haul, the items are brands from Russia. They were on sale or clearance which is pretty much the one of the reason I picked them up.
I picked up the Divage Kiss Me Lipgloss , Divage Kiss Me Lip Balm and L'etoile Rouge Desir Lipstick.
I paid around 373 Rubles for these three items. If you do the math it is about RM24 USD6.7) at that moment of time which is a steal considering makeup is cheap here at the first place.

L'etoile was having a 40% off storewide until 28th December. Ofcourse I couldn't resist the good sales. I did pick up a lot of high end products from the store and that will be in another post.
L'etoile is like the Russian version of Sephora, they have their own in store brand with great and vast selection.
What caught my eye the most is their new Rouge Desir. From the packaging, they remind me of the creamy lipsticks that most companies are pushing out such as the Dior Addict lipsticks and Chanel Rouge Coco Shine. They were so many colours to choose from, there is  more than 20 colour to choose from. It is really great. There's definitely a shade for everybody.

I picked the shade 411 Princesse. You know, I love my pinks. This is a beautiful medium pink that suits every occasion. With the formula, the colour won't be too loud or bright. It gives a nice high shine wash of medium pink to the lips.

I really like the packaging, the packaging is very sleek and minimalistic with the full black theme. It is also very sturdy. It is also very slim which makes it easy to carry around in the makeup bag, because it will not take up much space.
The downside though, the packaging is such a fingerprint magnet!

Divage is an affordable Russian brand with its own stands.
Divage Kiss Me Lip Balm in 04.
These were on a clear out in the beauty store near my hostel. They were going for 49 Rubles.
Doesn't hurt to have another lipbalm for 49 Rubles. I go through lipbalms really fast since it is winter now and Russia is known for having harsh and cold winters. The harsh winter often try out my skin and lips.
I haven't tried out this lipbalm, I am not sure if it swatches with colour or clear.

Divage Kiss Me Lipgloss in 01
These lipglosses were on a clear out for 49 Rubles too. There was about 2 shades left in the clear out and this shade caught my attention. It is a peachy nude with slight shimmers. The shimmers are not very noticeable unless you really look into the tube.
I was pleasantly surprised by this lipgloss. It is pigmented and it feels quite nice on the lips, quite smooth and creamy. It is not sticky and doesn't apply patchy.
I would say this is such a steal for only 49 rubles.

Drugstore New Year Haul

Rive Gauche is having some good deals on selected cosmetics and perfumes for the month of December and January. I picked these items up early of December when the racks are still stocked.
All items purchased were on offer and discount so I have made pretty good savings.

I like Pupa cosmetics, I own two of their Princess Shiny Lip Fluid which I also picked up from Rive Gauche and they are amazing.
This lipstick is nominated the best drugstore lipstick by beauty experts of Rive Gauche which made me wanted to try it out. It must be really good to receive such an award.

These shiny casing are the death of photography. They will never come out pretty in pictures.
The packaging isn't the most aesthetic looking and the whole shiny silver packaging does make it look not attractive at all. I won't say it looks cheap because it does not at all, the packaging is sturdy and it has a nice grip to it. It is so stumpy looking though.
Well, it should be all about the product quality , not about the packaging. Let's stop complaining about the packaging. A good packaging earns an extra brownie point though.

The colour I picked up is 402 Candied Pink. You know how much I love my pinks, I can't resist picking up a pink colour.

As you can see, the brand name "Pupa" is engraved on the bullet. It does give it a sort of a more expensive look to it.
Candy Pink is a warm pink with slight hint of coral to it. It is a spring/summer colour, very bright and fun.
So far, I like the lipstick. I do plan on getting more colours but I haven't seen a colour I really want yet. Also, I am eyeing on their Velvet Matt line. Let's hope they will have an offer soon for that line.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick.
These lipsticks are so affordable yet so great. This time I picked up two more shades, Asia (left) and Heartbreaker (Right).
Heartbreaker is for my mom. It is a deep pink with slight red tones. I am not sure if she would like it but I think she will. It is a elegant and mature colour with its muted tones, very suitable for an everyday use.
Asia is a mauve with brown undertones. It is the winter nude colour. Also, it reminds me of a "Kylie Jenner" lip colour. It is super gorgeous, it has been my winter colour. I have a FOTD with me with this lip colour.

I really love Rimmel's Lasting Finish Lipstick. The price is great, they are so creamy and pigmented. Over time on the lips, it can be a little drying but it isn't a big problem for me, a lip balm could fix it.
The tube for "Asia" is a little wonky though, I got a faulty tube, I had to twist the tube multiple times to twist the lipstick up and then down. I am a little worried that it would go completely off that I wouldn't be able to twist it up and down anymore. But, so far so good.

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in 103 True Ivory.
This foundation is one of the best drugstore foundation I have ever used. It lives up to the raves from beauty bloggers.  Drugstores have been on their A game in foundations, I have found a lot of foundation gems from the drugstore.
This foundation was on offer for a very affordable price for 219 Rubles (with the rate then about RM14.50) , so I picked up a bottle as a back up. I am hoarder, I know that.

Maybelline Baby Lips.

Cherry Me, Pink Punch and Clear Intensive Care.

Maybelline products are on 1+1 = 3 offer till the end of December. I saw the Baby Lips display and thought why not stock up on some lip balms.I get through lipbalms really fast because I use them daily and always constantly applying them and even applying them to sleep (the clear ones not the coloured one, no one wants a kiss mark on the pillow).

Santorini Haul

I did manage pick up some beauty products when I was in Santorini since most of the time I have been wondering in Fira. Mostly, I picked up Greek beauty/skincare products that are obviously cheaper and more accessible in Greece.
Greek famous beauty/skincare products are usually found in Pharmacies.

Here's the damage done on the first day on the Island.

Hondos Center is the only department store in Santorini, which is located in Fira. In that store, I picked up some YSL items since we do not have YSL in Malaysia except in KLIA terminal and the price was cheaper than in Russia then.
From the pharmacy, I got Korres and Apivita products. Apivita and Korres are well known brands in Greece.

Apivita cream with propolis. The salesgirl recommended this to me for problematic skin. The cream smells purely like propolis.
Anyway, this cream is not for me. Just getting it for someone who breaks out time to time.

From Korres, I got this Santorini Vine collection as a souvenir. The smell ain't particularly for my liking but since I was in Santorini, why not grab this gift set as a remembrance and souvenir for the family.

A pretty gift set from Korres indeed. I like the Santorini print behind the gift set.

Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation in BR20
Hondos Center was having a 30% off on all high-end cosmetics and perfumes.
The sales assistant in Hondos Center is really nice and helpful. She matched me to this foundation and it was a perfect match on my skin. This is my first YSL foundation.

Another YSL product I picked up is the YSL Kiss & Blush in 9 Rose Epicuren.
I have been eyeing on this product eversince it was launched. I find the whole lip and cheek hybrid product very interesting,

Here is a swatch of the YSL Kiss & Blush in Rose Epicuren.
It is a baby lavender-pink. Very sweet colour, I fell in love with this colour when I first swatched it.

This is the purchases on the last night. I did have some dramatic experience with the lip butters.
While Korres is very accessible in Santorini island since it is a Greek product but due to high popularity, their lip butter are mostly sold out with only a few shades left. All these lip products are actually bought from different pharmacies.

The Lip Butter in Wild Rose and Jasmine are bought in Oia. I do not intend to get Wild Rose, infact I wanted Quince but the sales lady gave me the wrong shade and I did not realize till I was back in the hotel. So the next day I had to search for it, I went to 3 different pharmacies and also Hondos Center in Fira and I think there were only three pharmacies. I finally got Quince from the pharmacy close to Carrefour. I think it is the more secluded pharmacy out of the three pharmacies there since the other two were at nearer to the bus stop and on the way to the Central Square.

The glory of my Korres lip butters.

The Watermelon Lightweight Tinted Moisturizer is also something I have looked out for. Glad to found it at one of the pharmacies. It was such a challenge finding certain Korres products in Santorini

That's all for my beauty haul in Santorini. I am not done with my Santorini holiday series post but I have some up.
Here are links to the post if you are interested.

The Birthday Haul - Drugstore edition

Surprisingly I didn't pick up as much as I thought i would from the beauty supply store. There just haven't been exciting stuffs in the beauty supply store. I have been waiting for certain products to be launch over here but there aren't seem to be arriving.
There are some new products I have been eyeing from Catrice, Essence and Bourjois. Hopefully they arrive soon to Russian shores.

From the Catrice counter, I picked up two items.
Catrice Nude Illusion Make Up Foundation and Catrice Beautifying Lip Smoother in 03 Cake Pop.

Catrice have been launching new finishes for their foundation for Autum 2014. The Nude Illusion caught my eye because it promises a luminous matt finish. Luminous Matt is one of my favourite finishes besides Luminous. I like soft matte finish, it gives the skin a touch of photoshop feel in photos.
My colour is in 010 "Nude Ivory". The packaging for this foundation is nothing special but it is practical. It comes with a frosted glass bottle and a pump. Yay for pumps.
I haven't tried this foundation yet, I will leave a quick short first impression the next time I try this foundation.

Catrice Beautifying Lip Smoother just reminds me so much of the Clarins Lip Perfector. I do not own the Lip Perfector so I can't compare.
The lip smoother is a great lip balm and lipgloss hybrid. It is really creamy and buttery on the lips and the most important, it is not sticky at all, like really not sticky at all. The colour is sheer but still enough to give a hint of colour. Cake Pop is a warm pink tone.
Because the finish and texture, it doesn't last very long on the lips. It last about 3-4 hours on me which isn't too bad. It is a handy lip product to carry around and reapply.
Another dupe for the Clarins Lip Perfector is the Boots No7 BB Lips. We can't the BB Lips over here but when I do pay England a visit, I will drop by Boots to give them a try.

Max Factor Skin Luminizer Foundation.

My shade is 45 Warm Almond. The lighest shade available in Russia is 30 Porcelain which is a tad too light for me.
I didn't meant to get this foundation but as a birthday reward, Rive Gauche allows me to exchange my points into cash. So I was browsing in the shop wondering what I should get since I do not want the bonus to go into waste. In the end, I decided on this foundation and I paid half price for it. Such a steal.
I like the Max Factor Facefinity Foundation so I am quite excited to try this foundation. What's more it promises a luminous finish.

It isn't a big drugstore haul, so much smallet than expected but I am looking out for new November releases in the beauty store.

New favourite lipbalm : Nivea lipbutter

Autumn weather has been getting really cold in Moscow. It has been hitting sub-zero at night and at dawn.
So when the month gets colder, every part of my skin starts to crack and peel like a snake and I can't live without body lotion and lip balm.

Let me introduce you a lip butter that I have been using every night to wake up to supple and luscious lips.

Nivea Lip Butter in Raspberry Rose.

I bought mine in Rive Gauche (Рив Гош). It took quite awhile for them to arrive Russian shores. I spotted them about last summer. My first tin was bought in London circa 2012. It was the creme brulee and it smells so good.
I would eat the whole tin if I could.

For the raspberry rose, the scent of this lip butter is very berry-ish. It just smells so good but not as good and close to yummy as the creme brulee.

The lip butter appears pink in the tin but when applied, it doesn't appear pink. It somewhat looks milky on the lips, not very a good look on the lips, that's why for me, I will only use this lip butter before bed.
I don't want to appear to have 'milky' lips in public.

Despite the milky appearance on the lips, I really like this lip butter. Every night applying prior to sleep, the next morning, I will wake up with soft, supple lips.

The consistency isn't too slippery nor sticky, it feels just nice on the lips, not heavy too.

A swatch on my lips. The milky film doesn't translate well on camera but in real life, it is quite unflattering. Despite that this is my favourite lip butter. It saved my lips from chapping, leaving me with soft lips through out the day.

Lip polish loot!

Guardian (A local drugstore) was having a buy 1 get 1 free offer on the Maybelline Lip Polish till yesterday. I thought it was a good chance to get the lip polishes. In the US, they are the 'Color Elixirs' , the name switches at different continents so are the shades, there, they come in 20 shades or so but over here, we only carry about 10 shades.

I have been wanting to try them for some time but they did not release it in the Europe, so I had till I get back to Asia.

I picked up two shades. Glam 9 and Pop 5.

Glam 9 is a warm tone pink with peachy undertones with fine gold shimmer. The shimmers is really pretty, it adds dimension to the colour.

Pop 5 is a hot pink. Girlish and cute colour. It is the type of colour that screams my name.

The packaging is chic. Where they fill in the product is shaped like a lipstick bullet. I find that really cute.
I haven't tried the lipsticks yet since I just got them yesterday but I will work with them soon. A review will be up soon with one of my FOTD post.

Essence Glossy Lipbalm mini review

Being the shopaholic I am, I actually ran back to the beauty shop to pick up more Essence Glossy Lipbalms.

I picked up another two shades/flavours - Cherry Brownie and Strawberry Cheesecake.

The Essence Lipbalms comes with 5 colour choices in Moscow : Berry Cupcake (Shimmery Berry), Strawberry Cheesecake (Shimmery light pink), Mango Icecream (Peach Pink), Mint Drop (Shimmers) and Cherry Brownie (Red)
So far, now I own 3 out of the 5 shades.

To the review,
The essence glossy lipbalms are lipbalms with a 'glossy' twist to it. Eventhough the finish looks like a lipgloss, they still retain the main function of a lipbalm, they moisturize the lips, keeping the lips soft and supple.
Eversince, I bought the glossy lipbalm in Mango Icecream, I have been using the lipbalms everyday, they moisturize my lips well and gives a nice hint of colour to my lips thus brighten my look.
And let me say, I love the new formula, they aren't as sticky as the old formula, somehow they feel a little oily, they feel a bit like the Benefit Lipgloss on the lips.

The only downside since they are wet balms, they do wear out fairly quick, like one an hour or two but the lips will still feel soft and supple, just that the colour is pretty much gone but I think most girls don't mind reapplying lipbalms.

Here are the swatches
From left : Mango Ice Cream, Cherry Brownie, Strawberry Cheesecake.

Overall, they are a very fun lipbalm to carry around in the bag. The shades are really pretty too, especially Mango Icecream, it is such a beautiful peach pink.
I would recommend this product to girls who wants a balm with the shine of a gloss with a hint of colour. With the price tag, it wouldn't hurt trying these balms.

Summer little loot : Essence cosmetics

I went to the beauty store wanting to get a top coat but as usual I exit the store getting more than just a topcoat.

These are the items I got from the beauty store. Nothing too exciting, everything is from Essence cosmetics.

First item is the Essence lipliner in Wish Me A Rose.
It is a newly added colour to the collection.

This lip pencil is a very budget friendly lip pencil and surprisingly it is very creamy and pigmented.
This colour is a matte pink which is quite a MLBB colour on me.

I came across Carli Bybel's 'how to make your lips appear larger' video the other day and I thought, wow! I want to try that tutorial.

By the way Carly Bybel is a youtube guru with beautiful eyes and lips. She is extremely gorgeous.
You can watch her video on the tutorial over here

I do not have a lipliner with me over here.
When I saw this at the Essence stand for 65Rubles (less than USD2). I just picked it up because of the extremely affordable price for a great quality and pretty colour.
I will do a quick post when I do try it out.

Essence Glossy Lipbalm in Mango Icecream.

Just a basic glossy lipbalm that is always handy everywhere.
I own their old version in Pink Dragonfruit and I like that lipgloss a lot because it's just really handy and moisturizing. The only downside it doesn't last that long and it is quite sticky.

These are the new versions. I don't know what changes they have made in the new version but a review is coming up soon. I hope they made changes to the formulation in terms of stickiness.

This is the star product of my haul.
I think I just found my HG top coat. I just applied nail polish over my nails before I blogged and oh wow, this top coat dries down so fast like a dream. It dried seconds after I applied it. No joke.
I never used a top coat that dried so fast.
I am already doing my daily routines as usual after applying my nail polish without having to worry my nail polish is going to 'dent' or smudge.
It gives an absolutely lovely high shine too. Usually the shine in my nail polish fades after awhile but the shine is still here.
I just can't sing enough praises for this product. I am going to see how many days the nail polish is going to last without chipping and report back.

This top sealer is probably for gel nails but I used it on normal nail polish and it works fine on it.

I am having it over my Orly's You're Blushing. Incase anyone is wondering what nail polish I am using on my nails.
