Travel Diary: Australia: Follow me Phillip Islands

After a long and enjoyable ride along the Great Ocean Road, we finally arrived Phillip Islands.

The first stop is Maru Koala Animal Park, to catch a glimpse of the animals unique to Australia.

Kangaroo! It is the first time seeing a Kangaroo and they are so cute.
The kangaroos in this animal park are really tame, so it is fine to go around and play with them. Manage to get closer with them by feeding them.
Can you spot an albino kangaroo at the background?

Tasmanian Devil.
This thing is pretty much the devil running all over like a mad man, was pretty hard to get a nice shot of it since it was running non-stop! Wonder where did it find so much energy. I wish I have half of its energy during the weekdays.

It is just so cute! I thought it will be soft to the touch but the fur is rougher than it looks like.

Guess where our next stop is. It might be crazy to come here during winter with the strong winds but we are at Cape Woolamai. One of the most famous surfing beaches in Phillip Island.

The waves on this beach are really huge and rough, making it a favourable spot for surfing. It is also a very dangerous spot to surf or swim if you are not good at it. Might get washed away by the waves.

Some avid surfer, brisking the cold and surfing during the winter months.

From the state of my hair you can sort of have an idea how strong is the winds over here. It is not very cold since Australian winter is mild, you can see me from wearing my sweater and spring trenchcoat but the wind is unbearable.

We had a stroll at the Phillip Island Nature Park.

The greenery in this nature park is very soothing and serene.

In this park we managed what we thought were kangaroos but the tour guide explained to us that they are wallabies. I do not know how to differentiate kangaroos and wallabies, they look the same to me. We also saw swans at the swan lake trail.

The main reason we visited Phillip Island is because we wanna catch the Penguin Parade at the Nobbies Center.

The Penguin houses at the center. We spotted some Penguin 'chicks' inside the houses.

After that we went for the Penguin Parade. We were not allowed to touch or take photo of the penguins to prevent from scaring them. So, I do not have any photos of the cute little penguins.

We sat down beside the sea before dawn to wait for the penguins to come back from the sea. According to the guides, the penguins come back home at night to prevent predators from preying on them. We followed the penguins until our van. The penguins travel really far from the sea to their houses, some may travel as far as a few kilometres.
Drivers are also advised to look out for penguins on the road.

This is how we ended our day on Phillip Islands. 

Travel Diary: Australia : Follow me Great Ocean Road

We start of the day in Melbourne early with our tour to the Great Ocean Road. Visiting Melbourne will be not be complete without going on a road trip down Great Ocean Road.

Let the journey begin
The road of the Great Ocean Road is really winding, the tour guide advised those who get car sick easily to get their car sick pills, paperbags ready or even sleep through part of the journey to feel more comfortable.
I do not get car sick but at some point of the journey, I got a little dizzy. I guess the road is too hard for me to take.

The parrots are just fearless and the human head is probably their favourite resting place. My head felt a little ticklish with their little claws scratching upon my scalp.

First stop the Cumberland River. There's a lot of beautiful holiday villa and caravan along this river.
A great place to get in touch with nature.
Since it is beside the ocean, the wind is really strong, it is hard to get a nice picture without getting the hair all messed up.

We arrived the must-see attraction along the Great Ocean Road - The Twelve Apostles.
The Twelve Apostle, well not twelve now, is a limestone stack that is formed due to harsh weather and erosion.
The limestone stack stands strong and majestic at the Southern Ocean.

After that, we drove west to witness the beautiful scenery of The Lord Ard Gorge and London Bridge

Walked down to the beach for some great view and also photo sessions.

The two rocks used to be connected until it dramatically collapsed in 1990.

Australia is a country with magnificent and beautiful natural attraction. Great Ocean Road is one of the most amazing I have seen. The natural landscape untouched and standing strong with glory just the epitome of Great.
The fierce rolling waves, the quiet forest and meadows, where tranquility meets power.
Definitely a worthy trip down the Great Ocean Road if you are visiting Melbourne. I would definitely take a trip down this road if I have another chance to visit Melbourne. 

Travel diary : Follow me around Melbourne

My friends and I took AirAsia flight from LCCT, Malaysia to Melbourne. We arrived Australia at night and checked in our hostel which is Discovery Melbourne.

We chose this hostel because it is cheap and we are staying in Melbourne for a week, we don't want our accommodation to mess up our budget.

I don't like sleeping at the top of a double decker. I slept well on the first night because I was too tired but in the morning, the whole room was freezing!

Someone just opened the window for the whole night and it's winter, in Australia atleast. 

The first stop of our Melbourne Journey is Queen Victoria Market where we are going to get breakfast.

If you do stop by the market, I recommend to try out this German Hot Dog. It taste really good.
I got the smoked pork sausage with lots of Sauerkraut. The Sauerkraut is great but the best one I had was in Hungary ( I haven't been to Germany to try authentic Sauerkraut but hey! Hungarian cuisines are also inspired by German cuisines, they can't taste too different).

Time to dig in!

The portion is big. My friend and I shared the portion so we could leave more space in our stomach for more food.

I will a separate "Eating in Melbourne" and compile great food I have had in Melbourne.

Royal Arcade in Bourke's Street.

Bourke's Street is a shopping street. They are arcades, department stores and also boutiques along the street.

We went into the Royal Arcade Mall for a look. The architecture of the mall is so elegant.

It is located opposite of Melbourne Central.

We were waiting for our friend who studies and currently lives in Melbourne to take us around Melbourne and also take us to a good restaurant.
We didn't go into the library but we took a leisure walk around its compounds. Is it me or there's a lot of seagulls in Melbourne.

In Melbourne Central. There's a lot of shops in this train station. We roamed around for awhile and went for some shopping.

I only got one thing from the a shop called Typo.

We are taking this picture from the South Wharf after shopping in DFO. 

I didn't post a haul post on the clothes I got from DFO but they weren't very interesting pieces. 

Also since I stayed in near the city center, basically every night my friend and I will head to Big W to look for snacks to snack on. I would say chocolate in Australia seems to taste better than what we have got over here. Could it be the milk? 

And, milk in Australia is awesome, the taste is just so good! If you are in Australia, you just have to try their milk.
