Santorini Haul

I did manage pick up some beauty products when I was in Santorini since most of the time I have been wondering in Fira. Mostly, I picked up Greek beauty/skincare products that are obviously cheaper and more accessible in Greece.

Greek famous beauty/skincare products are usually found in Pharmacies.

Here's the damage done on the first day on the Island. 

Hondos Center is the only department store in Santorini, which is located in Fira. In that store, I picked up some YSL items since we do not have YSL in Malaysia except in KLIA terminal and the price was cheaper than in Russia then. 

From the pharmacy, I got Korres and Apivita products. Apivita and Korres are well known brands in Greece. 

Apivita cream with propolis. The salesgirl recommended this to me for problematic skin. The cream smells purely like propolis. 

Anyway, this cream is not for me. Just getting it for someone who breaks out time to time. 

From Korres, I got this Santorini Vine collection as a souvenir. The smell ain't particularly for my liking but since I was in Santorini, why not grab this gift set as a remembrance and souvenir for the family.

Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation in BR20

Hondos Center was having a 30% off on all high-end cosmetics and perfumes.

The sales assistant in Hondos Center is really nice and helpful. She matched me to this foundation and it was a perfect match on my skin. This is my first YSL foundation. 

Another YSL product I picked up is the YSL Kiss & Blush in 9 Rose Epicuren. 

I have been eyeing on this product eversince it was launched. I find the whole lip and cheek hybrid product very interesting,

It is a baby lavender-pink. Very sweet colour, I fell in love with this colour when I first swatched it. 

This is the purchases on the last night. I did have some dramatic experience with the lip butters. 

While Korres is very accessible in Santorini island since it is a Greek product but due to high popularity, their lip butter are mostly sold out with only a few shades left. All these lip products are actually bought from different pharmacies.

The Lip Butter in Wild Rose and Jasmine are bought in Oia. I do not intend to get Wild Rose, infact I wanted Quince but the sales lady gave me the wrong shade and I did not realize till I was back in the hotel. So the next day I had to search for it, I went to 3 different pharmacies and also Hondos Center in Fira and I think there were only three pharmacies. I finally got Quince from the pharmacy close to Carrefour. I think it is the more secluded pharmacy out of the three pharmacies there since the other two were at nearer to the bus stop and on the way to the Central Square.

The Watermelon Lightweight Tinted Moisturizer is also something I have looked out for. Glad to found it at one of the pharmacies. It was such a challenge finding certain Korres products in Santorini

Eating out in Akrotiri, Santorini : Taverna Glaros

Before the trip, I did some checking on restaurants in Santorini on tripadvisor.

Taverna Glaros in Akrotiri is one of the restaurants that caught my attention. 

The restaurant is located on the way to the Red Beach.

We are served with bread to go with the meal.

Boiled octopus with olive oil.

This dish taste so amazing, I just couldn't get enough of it.
The blend of olive oil with herbs with octopus boiled to perfection taste so heavenly.

I would say this dish is the star of our order.

Tomato fritters

The Santorini cherry tomatoes are native to Santorini. You would never find any cherry tomatoes on Mother Earth similar to the Santorini.
The taste of Santorini cherry tomatoes are more tangy and flavourful.

The tomato fritters are absolutely lovely. It's simple but the flavourfulness and tanginess of tomato just make this dish so wonderful.

The White Santorini Aubergine.

This is a simple homely dish. It is more bland compared to the other dishes we ordered.
Santorini white aubergines are sweet and do not have seeds.

Lamb Souvlaki.

The lamb is grilled to perfection and it is flavourful. I love the accompanying sour cream.
The cucumbers are fresh and juicy, they almost taste like honeydew.
The vegetables are freshly grown in their home garden.

The owner saw us finished our food and how much we enjoyed it, she treated us to a dessert. The owner is a lovely hospitable lady, she also does the cooking.

Homemade Greek Yogurt in Honey, Saffron, Carrots.

This dessert is to die for! It taste so heavenly! Everything blends so well, the sweetness of the honey and slight sourness of the yogurt.

I definitely recommend dropping by this restaurant if you are in Santorini.
It is the most homely and delicious restaurant I've tried in Santorini. If I ever do return to the beautiful Santorini, I will visit this restaurant once again.

Travel Diary : Santorini Day One - Akrotiri and Thira

My trip to Santorini was a quick one. We booked our trip from a travel agency and after my exam, we were all ready to set off to Santorini.

My flight was at 5.00am Moscow time, I had to stay overnight in Domodedovo airport to catch the flight.
I am heading to Santorini all lack of sleep with my panda eye.

From our plane, we can see the Santorini island! The view from the plane is magnificent!

The travel agency did screwed up a little. At first they told me that Perissa Bay has closed their booking , so I switched my hotel to Sea Side Hotel. When I arrived to Santorini apparently I did not get my reservation for Sea Side Hotel but Perissa Bay.

We arrived the hotel at 9am so our rooms were not ready, we had to stay at the lounge.
So I took a quick shower at the shower room and dressed up. I did not feel to good since I did not shower since the last night in Moscow.

Our plan of the day is to head to Akrotiri to visit the Red Beach. We do not want to have a hectic day since we are tired from staying overnight in the airport.
Before we head there, we had a short glimpse of Thira.

Thira is extremely gorgeous. We are going to do a full visit tomorrow.

We arrived at Akrotiri. Instead of opting the boat to the Red Beach and White beach. We decided to hike our way to the Red Beach.
I hiked the trail with my beach sandals. So far I did not have any problem with hiking with beach sandals but trainers are advisable.

I am at the top of the world.

The view of the Red Beach is absolutely gorgeous from here. The water is so blue. It looks great with the contrast of the red sand of the beach.

The sun is absolutely scorching at 12-1pm. Being the typical Asian I am, I couldn't bear the sun at all. I felt like every cell of mine are sizzling.
The sand is burning hot. Do not attempt to walk on the sand without sandals.

The beach is jam packed with people trying to tan and have fun at the beach.
I couldn't stand the heat, so after taking pictures around, I quickly ran back.
